They need experiences that reach beneath explanation—experiences of their own nervous system settling, their attention stabilizing, their body becoming more available, and new possibilities becoming directly knowable from within.
As a skilled professional, you may already help people gain insight, make better choices, and understand themselves more clearly.
But insight alone often does not produce change when stress rises and the nervous system takes over.
The field needs a more complete bridge between mindfulness, the nervous system, direct embodied experience, and the professional art of facilitation.
NSM addresses this gap by training both the methodology and the person who facilitates it.
Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness™ is a deeply embodied, neuroscience-informed approach to classical mindfulness-awareness practice developed by Fleet Maull, PhD. It emphasizes interoception—the capacity to sense the body from within—and the use of direct internal experience as a form of neuro-biological feedback. NSM remains fully rooted in mindfulness and meditation while expanding their professional application.
The trained capacity to sense what is happening inside the body with accuracy, rather than inferring it from thought.
Working with experience as it is actually felt in the moment, not with the description or interpretation of it.
Using the body's own signals as live feedback, so a person can recognise and influence their state as it shifts.
Repeated, structured practice that turns a momentary state into a stable, developmental trait available under pressure.
Mindfulness-trained professionals often see results emerge gradually—but NSM-trained professionals create immediate, discernible shifts clients can feel in the session itself. That's the "wow factor" that builds referrals, reputation, and a thriving practice.
NSM helps you become the practitioner clients feel—and refer.
More Impact. More Trust. More Growth.
When clients experience real shifts early, they stay engaged, commit to the process, and become your best advocates.
This certification is not designed to teach beginners how to meditate, nor is it another broad survey of mindfulness concepts. It is designed for professionals who already bring an established practice, meaningful life experience, and a commitment to helping others. You will deepen your own embodiment while learning how to facilitate Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness skillfully, ethically, and confidently in your existing professional setting. NSM Foundations, or an approved equivalent pathway, is required before beginning the certification.
Most coaching, mindfulness, therapy, and leadership programs work from the top down. That approach has real value—until cognition narrows and the nervous system takes the wheel.
NSM helps practitioners work where experience is actually created rather than where it is merely interpreted.
The Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness Professional Certification is designed to develop these capacities together—so you can become not only a more skillful mindfulness professional, but a trusted facilitator of embodied transformation and human flourishing.
Facilitate Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness experiences that clients can feel—not simply understand.
Create early experiences of regulation, safety, presence, connection, and possibility that foster trust and encourage continued engagement.
Help clients move from insight into direct embodied learning and increasingly reliable self-regulation.
Integrate NSM naturally into your work as a coach, therapist, mindfulness teacher, yoga teacher, healthcare professional, educator, leader, or other helping professional.
Guide individuals and groups with greater embodied presence, confidence, compassion, and effectiveness.
Explain the principles and science of Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness with clarity and professional credibility.
Use trauma-aware, invitational language and remain within appropriate professional scope.
Differentiate your work through an advanced professional specialization grounded in contemplative wisdom, contemporary science, and embodied transformation.
Join a founding professional community committed to lifelong learning, ethical practice, and the continuing development of the NSM field.
NSM is a methodology you can integrate into the professional identity and scope you already hold. You do not need to become a different kind of professional. You will learn to bring a deeper embodied dimension to the work you are already doing.
This program is not intended to qualify participants to diagnose or treat conditions outside their existing professional license, training, or scope of practice.
At least three years of consistent mindfulness or meditation practice, including completion of at least one teacher-led, in-person, week-long silent meditation retreat.
If you have not completed the NSM Foundations course, complete it prior to January 15, 2027.
Complete NSM Foundations before the certification begins.
Purchase NSM Foundations ↗If you do not have previous professional training, use the pathway below to complete the professional prerequisite described above.
Apply for prerequisite training ↗In Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness, mastery is not a destination. It is an ongoing commitment to practice, curiosity, reflection, feedback, and continual refinement. Certification recognizes demonstrated competence; it marks your entry into the founding community of NSM professionals and a lifelong path of embodied practice, transformational facilitation, and service to human flourishing.
Demonstrated competence.
In Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness we do not pursue perfection.
We cultivate an unending capacity to learn, deepen, and refine.
The program unfolds through two integrated phases. The first develops the knowledge, personal embodiment, and professional competencies that define NSM. The second turns those capacities into observable facilitation skill through practice, feedback, coaching, and assessment. Together, these phases form one developmental arc: learn the methodology, embody it, practice transmitting it, receive precise feedback, and demonstrate professional competence.
Roshi Fleet Maull, PhD is a meditation teacher, social entrepreneur, author, executive coach, and the founder of HeartMind and Prison Dharma Network. His work integrates more than five decades of contemplative practice and teaching across Tibetan, Zen, Vipassana, secular Nondual, and mainstream mindfulness traditions, integrating trauma-informed and neuroscience-based approaches with inner yoga energy work, positive psychology, leadership development, and social transformation.
He developed Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness as a deeply embodied, neuroscience-based approach to classical mindfulness-awareness practice—one designed to help contemporary practitioners move beyond conceptual observation into direct sensate experience, nervous system trust, compassionate self-leadership, and a progressively deeper and more stable experience of presence and being.
Fleet will provide the core contextual teachings for each week and lead monthly live mentoring and integration sessions throughout the certification.

The first twelve weeks are not a passive content library. They are a carefully structured formation process designed to deepen how you understand NSM, how you experience it in your own body, and how you begin to transmit it professionally.
Each core area spans two weeks. Together they form a developmental arc from conceptual understanding to embodied mastery, healing and professional growth, relational presence, scientific grounding, and professional integration.
Understand the worldview, principles, and distinctions that make NSM a coherent methodology rather than a collection of techniques.
The developmental aims of HeartMind; basic goodness as experiential ground; human flourishing as embodied, developmental, relational, and ethical.
The movement from top-down effort toward direct sensate experience; state-to-trait development and the progressive stabilization of embodied awareness.
Deepen your own practice through a progressive journey from foundational attention and embodiment toward open awareness and nondual resting in being.
The progressive 21-Day NSM practice journey; stable embodied presence; interoceptive precision and curiosity; self-regulation through direct internal experience.
Open awareness and nondual resting in being; a lifelong orientation toward practice, learning, and mastery.
Use NSM as a pathway for your own continuing healing, emotional maturity, resilience, self-leadership, and development as a trustworthy professional presence.
Unconditional okayness; safe, resourced, and connected states; internal co-regulation; regenerative self-parenting.
Radical responsibility; embodied self-leadership; how personal development shapes professional effectiveness.
Develop compassion as an embodied relational capacity that strengthens connection, attunement, and the ability to remain present with the full range of human experience.
Self-compassion without self-indulgence; loving-kindness as systematic practice.
Working with relational contraction and reactivity; compassion for difficult people; relational presence in professional settings; the movement from personal practice toward social concern and contribution.
Ground your work in a clear understanding of contemporary meditation research, psychology, neuroscience, stress regulation, compassion, resilience, wisdom, and meaning.
Mindfulness as a trainable capacity; attention networks and neuroplasticity; thoughts, emotions, and reactivity; stress physiology and resilience.
Self-compassion and prosocial capacities; relationships, meaning, and wisdom; how to speak about science accurately without overstating claims.
Learn to facilitate NSM skillfully and integrate it into your existing work with confidence, integrity, clear scope, and an ongoing commitment to reflective practice.
Teaching presence, language, pacing, and silence; invitational and trauma-aware facilitation; guiding direct sensate experience; working with questions, resistance, activation, and uncertainty.
Professional scope and ethical boundaries; introducing NSM to clients and groups; preparing for supervised teaching and certification assessment.
Your professional credibility begins with your own experience. Throughout the opening phase, the 21-Day NSM practice progression provides a coherent daily journey designed to deepen and stabilize the capacities you will later facilitate for others. The progression begins with foundational embodied attention and interoceptive awareness, then develops greater nervous system trust, open awareness, and increasingly subtle forms of resting in being. This is not “practice homework.” It is the experiential spine of the certification: a direct encounter with the methodology you will eventually transmit.
Weekly Learning Rhythm
Four Movements. One Integrated Practice.
Professional development happens through relationship. The certification combines self-paced learning with live integration, guided practice, discussion, feedback, and a community of experienced peers.
Faculty-Led Community of Practice
Live Teaching & Mentoring with Fleet Maull
Practice Partners & Peer Learning
Knowledge becomes professional capability through deliberate practice. During the practicum, you will guide real NSM experiences, receive detailed feedback, make targeted improvements, and demonstrate growing competence over time. The practicum is progressive rather than pass-or-fail.
Each teaching demonstration is designed to reveal what is working, identify the highest-value areas for improvement, and give you a clear strategy for your next level of development.
Many training programs teach a method, ask students to practice it, and provide only limited guidance on the subtle qualities that make facilitation effective. NSM takes a more rigorous approach. Your recorded teaching will be evaluated using a comprehensive Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness facilitation rubric, with detailed reports identifying demonstrated strengths, priority areas for development, and practical strategies for improvement.
The goal is developmental precision.
Your resourcing invitation lands with steadiness; consider allowing an additional 8–10 seconds of silence before your next verbal cue so the interoceptive orientation can settle. Growth from Submission 02 is clearly visible in pacing.
People are more likely to stay engaged in a meaningful process when they can sense that something real is happening. NSM is designed to help you facilitate direct experiences of regulation, presence, inner connection, and possibility—often early in the relationship. The aim is not to manufacture dramatic experiences or promise instant transformation.
These authentic early experiences can build trust in you and in the process, increase motivation to continue practicing, create a shared experiential language for future work, help clients recognize progress, support deeper engagement and more enduring professional relationships, and increase the likelihood that satisfied clients speak meaningfully about their experience to others. Professional growth can emerge naturally when your work becomes more experiential, more effective, and more clearly differentiated.
Apply for the founding cohort ↳Eight facilitator competencies form the foundation of your development and final assessment.
Certification will recognize your ability to facilitate Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness with sufficient knowledge, embodiment, professional judgment, and practical skill. Completion of videos alone will not qualify a participant for certification. Participants who need additional development may be invited to complete targeted practice or resubmit specific elements before certification is awarded, protecting the integrity of the credential and supporting the success of every graduate.
of professional formation and supervised practice

Formation. Practice. Certification — held as one continuous arc.
How to apply, what to expect, and what it means to be part of the first cohort.
The founding cohort will be more than the first group to complete the certification. It will become the founding generation of Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness professionals—helping shape the culture, language, standards, and future community of this emerging field. Founding participants will enter a program built on a substantial body of established teaching while also contributing thoughtful feedback that helps refine the certification for future cohorts.
This is a six-month professional formation and supervised practicum, not a short online course. Tuition rises in two steps as the founding cohort fills — apply earlier to lock in a lower rate.
Applying doesn't charge your card — pricing is confirmed only after acceptance. Deposits and payments are non-refundable once your place is confirmed.
Because this is an advanced certification with supervised practice and limited faculty capacity, enrollment will be by application. The application process is intended to create a strong cohort of experienced, committed professionals—not to exclude people through unnecessary gatekeeping.
