Where The Work Actually Changes You

01 / The Knowing

You’ve done the work. You understand the nervous system — the polyvagal states, the window of tolerance, the way activation moves through the body. You can name what’s happening even while it’s happening.

HeartMind retreat reflection
02 / The Reframe

And still — in the moment that matters, in your own life, your own body — something still overrides you. Knowing the map is not the same as changing the terrain. This retreat is where those two things finally meet.

HeartMind somatic practice
03 / The Retreat

Understanding lives in the mind. Change lives in the body. This retreat was built to close that gap — deliberately, with the depth and breadth of practice that makes the work actually land. This October, HeartMind is offering the opportunity to experience this together, in-person, in community, with only twenty-five people, for seven uninterrupted days.

Your Embodied Experience

Why This Retreat Is Built Differently

This retreat is built with deliberate depth — science, stillness, movement, breath, and sound woven together across seven full days. Fleet brings the neuroscience and his embodied approach to contemplative practice and personal evolution.

The HeartMind team brings additional deep embodiment practices as certified instructors in breathwork, yoga, Qigong, and mat pilates, further landing and integrating Fleet’s Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness (NSM) & self-leadership teaching, training and guidance. The arc of every day facilitates deep body-mind-spirit experience and integration.

A Proprietary Methodology

A Proprietary Methodology

Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness™ is a science-backed framework built over 40 years. It is a deeply embodied, heart-centered, and trauma-informed practice for awakening and meeting life’s challenges with compassion and resilience, integrating advanced meditation methods with network neuroscience, polyvagal theory, and HRV research — designed to produce change you can feel and science can measure, not just describe.

The First HeartMind Community Destination Retreat

The First HeartMind Community Destination Retreat.

You likely know our work at HeartMind through online summits, courses, retreats, challenges, and possibly our community membership program or The Initiation, Fleet’s live, in-person signature program. Dr. Fleet has led over 150 in-person meditation retreats and more than 100 in-person transformational seminars over the past 30 years.

We are thrilled to now bring Fleet’s depth of experience as a retreat leader and renowned wisdom teachings to our HeartMind Community in the form of a small group, in-person, community-based retreat at the beautiful Yandara Yoga Retreat Center. We aspire to offer more such retreats in the future, but whatever comes next at HeartMind, this one will always have been the first HeartMind Community Retreat.

Food That’s Part of the Practice

Food That’s Part of the Practice

Yandara, one of the preeminent yoga retreat centers in the world, is renowned for their fabulously delicious and high-quality, mostly vegetarian and vegan, organic and locally sourced cuisine — prepared with care and devotion by people who understand how the food we eat profoundly contributes to healing, energy, and well-being.

Your Integration

Why a Nervous System Reset Matters

Most of us live with a nervous system that has quietly adapted to chronic stress. We become so accustomed to constant activation, busyness, and vigilance that it begins to feel normal. Yet research shows that prolonged stress can impair emotional regulation, narrow attention, reduce cognitive flexibility, disrupt sleep, weaken immune function, and contribute to anxiety, burnout, and chronic inflammation. The good news is that the nervous system remains remarkably adaptable throughout life. Given the right conditions and consistent practice, it can learn new patterns of regulation, resilience, and recovery. That's one of the foundational principles behind HeartMind's Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness™ approach.

A retreat offers something modern life rarely does: uninterrupted time for your nervous system to settle, restore, and reorganize. Rather than simply providing a temporary escape, these seven days are intentionally designed to create the conditions where lasting change can begin. Through a carefully integrated rhythm of meditation, embodied practice, mindful movement, restorative rest, nourishing food, nature, and supportive community, you'll cultivate capacities that extend far beyond the retreat itself.

During the week, you'll begin to develop:

  • Greater nervous system regulation, helping you recover more quickly from stress and challenge.
  • Less reactivity and overwhelm, with more capacity to pause before responding.
  • Greater emotional balance and resilience, even in the midst of uncertainty.
  • Improved clarity, focus, and decision-making as chronic stress begins to settle.
  • Deeper sleep, restoration, and recovery, supporting both body and mind.
  • A renewed sense of connection with yourself, others, and the present moment.

You don't need to become someone new. You need to give your nervous system the opportunity to remember what regulation feels like.

Welcome to Yandara
Yandara, Baja, Mexico

Where You'll Be

Yandara has been a renowned working yoga and retreat community on the Baja coast since 2003 — a place built for practice and restorative healing.

An oceanfront property in Todos Santos, forty minutes from the Los Cabos airport. Open-air yoga pavilions facing the water. Glamping-style tents and simple rooms — comfortable, intentional, built for people who came to go deep. Evenings often end around a fire, sometimes with music.

Mostly vegetarian and vegan, organic, much of it grown or sourced locally, with occasional fish and breakfast eggs options. Meals here are unhurried and communal — long tables, real conversation, the kind of food that supports a nervous system rather than taxing it. This is not an afterthought to the programme. It's part of it.

Yandara retreatants often say the food is one of the highlights of their retreat—fresh, vibrant, and prepared with love. Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have other dietary needs, our kitchen team takes great care to accommodate you.

Your Community

Why This Environment Matters

Transformation doesn't happen only during meditation sessions.

It happens in the quiet moments between them.

The morning walk along the beach. The conversations over nourishing meals. The stillness beneath a sky filled with stars. The pause in a hammock as the ocean breeze reminds you there's nowhere else you need to be.

Your Accommodations

Stay in Beautiful Luxury Accommodations Surrounded by Nature... Wake to the Sound of the Ocean.

One of the most memorable parts of the HeartMind Retreat is the opportunity to experience luxury glamping in one of the most peaceful and naturally beautiful settings in Baja, Mexico.

This isn't camping.

It's an invitation to slow down and reconnect—with yourself, with nature, and with the simple rhythms that modern life often pulls us away from.

Choose from beautifully appointed luxury glamping tents, charming cabanas, or cabanas with private ensuite bathrooms. Every accommodation is thoughtfully designed to provide comfort while allowing you to experience the beauty of the natural world just beyond your door.

Imagine drifting off each evening to the gentle sound of Pacific waves, breathing fresh ocean air, and waking each morning feeling grounded, refreshed, and ready for another day of practice, learning, and connection.

For many guests, this becomes one of the most unforgettable aspects of the entire retreat.

Beautifully Designed Shared Bathhouses

Some of our luxury glamping accommodations use Yandara's beautifully designed shared bathhouses—one of the features that often surprises guests the most.

These are not campground washrooms.

Thoughtfully crafted with privacy, comfort, and cleanliness in mind, each open-air bathhouse offers a unique experience of connecting with nature while enjoying modern amenities.

You'll find:

  • Private showers with hot water
  • Individual toilet rooms
  • Wash basins with mirrors
  • Personal cubbies for your toiletries
  • Multiple facilities conveniently located throughout the retreat center
  • Daily professional cleaning and meticulous care

Nature Becomes Part of the Practice

At HeartMind, we believe the environment you immerse yourself in matters.

The quiet rhythm of the ocean, expansive skies, warm sunshine, and the simplicity of life at Yandara create an ideal setting to complement Fleet Maull's Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness™ teachings.

Together, they invite you to slow down, become more present, and engage in the experience of learning and renewal.

Sometimes the greatest luxury isn't another five-star hotel.
It's having the time, space, and natural beauty to remember what it feels like to simply be.

Many guests tell us they quickly come to appreciate the peaceful simplicity of these spaces—and leave wondering why they ever hesitated.
HeartMind retreat first
This Is the  First. There Is No Other First. Seven full days, with Fleet in person, in one place Be in the room where it starts.
Most of us live in a near-constant state of doing — even our healing can become another item on the list. This retreat is an invitation to step fully out of that constant doing in order to give your nervous system the time and space it actually needs to reorganize, integrate, and restore. Not someday. Now. Because the world needs people who have done this work — and you deserve to be one of them. The practitioners who show up for this one will carry something the others won’t. They were here first.

Yes, this is glamping, and it is truly luxurious glamping in a 5-star beachside location with super healthy 5-star food at this incredible restorative yoga retreat center designed to facilitate your nervous system reset, while nurturing your body, heart, mind, and spirit in Mother Nature’s embrace.

Yes — and possibly more so. Practitioners consistently report that Fleet’s work reaches something their professional training didn’t. He has been training and mentoring body-mind work teachers for more than 40 years. This isn’t a beginner retreat, but it’s also not a credential program. It’s seven days of restorative practice that works with you — regardless of how much you already know or your level of practice experience.

This retreat is built around a methodology Fleet spent 50 years developing, paired deliberately with a variety of complimentary embodied healing and integration practices. You get the science and the somatic work, integrated, every day.

The embodied work at this retreat — Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness™ meditation, yoga, somatic healing, breathwork, and sound — is selected and sequenced specifically to support integration. What you understand in the morning, you move through in the afternoon. This is how the work goes from insight to actual change in the body.

No. However, at Yandara there is quiet time after the program ends in the evening and prior to breakfast, which creates a restful environment for everyone involved.

Fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). Yandara is about 40 minutes north, in Todos Santos. Ground transportation is arranged directly with Yandara. A group shuttle runs $45 per person each way during the arrival window. Transfers outside that window may cost more, and private options may be available. Full transfer details are sent after you register.
